Hello and thank you for visiting my website.. My name is Geoff Verrall and I race pigeons in Adelaide South Australia...I first started racing in 1982 and flew for 1 year before work committments forced a quick exit from the sport...In year 2000, I bumped into a past club member who invited me around for a look at his set up and the bug had once again bitten..Before I knew it, my bank of 14 aviaries housing a variety of Australian parrots soon made way for perches and entry traps.
I visited my old club at Port Adelaide which had long changed location and touched base with some of my old clubmates...It was through one of these fellows, I obtained my first stock birds...Of these, 2 birds he gifted me went on to become very good producers and I built my stock loft around this family, finally purchasing 5 more pairs when the flyer who gifted me the 2 birds, decided to leave the sport and offered me first pick of his birds he was offering for sale.
Included in this purchase was a 1990 rung cock being of well known Adelaide distance flyer Peter Matthews and a 1991 rung hen bred by another top flyer in Jim Cox, which was his best producing pair, responsible for many winners in the Port Adelaide group and several S.A.H.P.A. placings...Several birds still in my stock loft and producing, are direct progeny of this pair of which I call '' The Old Pair '', a reference I am sure will be made many times on the site.
It is now 9 years down the track and I feel I have learnt more in the last 2 years than I did in the first 7...I remember an old flyer telling me it takes 10 years to really learn what you need to know to be successful but first, aquire the birds which will do the job, that he said, is the starting point...Please enjoy the website for what it is, a place for pigeon lovers to stroll through my backyard and see first hand the enjoyment of having racing pigeons in my life has given me, and the many friends I have made who will no doubt get a mention in here somewhere........Geoff..
